Internships

Park Square Theatre internships provide insight and hands-on experience in technical or administrative functions of the theatre. The following internship opportunities are available on a year-round basis:

Social Media Intern

Ever hear of a “Chief Twitter Officer?” It’s a real job at some big corporations. Well, we’re looking for a bright, social-media savvy theatre lover who’s already spending loads of time (do your friends say “too much”) on Face Book, Twitter, Flicker, blog sites, etc., who also needs some resume experience. We can’t pay big bucks like the Fortune 500’s can (in fact we’re paying nothing), but we can give you a great marketing team to work with, access to plenty of fabulous theatre, and wildly enthusiastic references (assuming you earn them).

Major Job Assignments:

  • Assist in creating our ongoing social media plan
  • Update our social media sites (daily/weekly as needed)
  • Coordinate and create direct e-blasts and e-letters
  • Connect with artists, fans and community bloggers to build our network

Requirements:

  • Highly developed media, communications and organizational skills
  • Motivated self-starter with reliable personal access to media and a place to work (what’s the point of being connected online if you have to come downtown all the time to sit in a cubicle, right?)
  • Dependability, reliability, strong follow-up skills (remember how you won’t be in the office all the time?)

Timeline & Commitment: Flexible hours, but we’d like a firm three-month commitment to start. Of course, we’d love to have your longer! Minimum of 3-5 hours/week.

Compensation: Parking/bus pass as needed for on-site meetings, two season tickets valued at $400.

To apply: Letter of interest and resume via email or post to Meg Krekeler, Marketing Manager, krekeler@parksquaretheatre.org; Park Square Theatre, 408 St. Peter Street, Suite 110, Saint Paul, MN 55102.

Marketing & Promotions Intern

Are you great with people (on the phone, in person and via email)? Do your friends rely on you to organize the evening, know where to park, figure out the tip? Do you spontaneously think of names for theme party cocktails? We’re looking for a great communicator who can stay on top of the details and provide follow-through on a wide array of partnerships and promotions with restaurants, bookstores, retailers, and media. We can’t pay big bucks, there is a stipend for your time, plus parking or bus pass. Not to mention a great marketing team to work with, access to plenty of fabulous theatre, and wildly enthusiastic references (assuming you earn them).

Major Job Assignments:

  • Help create and cultivate promotional partnerships (lots of time on the phone and email plus a few meetings)
  • Fulfill partnership requirements (deliver the drawing box, send the ticket vouchers, staff the booth, etc.)
  • Assist with other marketing tasks as needed and able (resize the ad, organize and code invoices, maintain media files, request printing estimates, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Highly developed media, communications and organizational skills
  • Ability to talk comfortably and respectfully with all kinds of people (harried clerks, church choir directors, sophisticated restaurant owners, savvy marketing professionals, etc.)
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Dependability, reliability, strong follow-up skills
  • Some marketing/public relations course work or experience
  • Design experience with InDesign or Illustrator a plus

Compensation: $150/month ongoing, parking/bus pass as needed for on-site work, two season tickets valued at $400.

Timeline & Commitment: We can use you all season (through May 2010), but need at least a three-month commitment. Flexible hours, average of 10  hours/week. If you need to fulfill an internship requirement for credit that has a greater time requirement, don’t worry – there’s plenty of work to do!

To apply: Letter of interest and resume via email or post to Meg Krekeler, Marketing Manager, krekeler@parksquaretheatre.org; Park Square Theatre, 408 St. Peter Street, Suite 110, Saint Paul, MN 55102.
