USHERING

Volunteering as an usher is a great opportunity to get acquainted with our theater while seeing a show for free– we’re always looking for friendly people to help us welcome our audiences to each one of our productions.

ATTIRE: Ushers are typically called to the theatre 45 minutes prior to the curtain time of a production (though this may vary according to the needs of the play), and are expected (unless otherwise noted) to wear clean, pressed, all-black or black and white semi-formal attire: black or white blouse or collared shirt; black slacks or skirt (no jeans, please); and
dress shoes (no athletic shoes). You’re also welcome to wear sweaters, blazers and vests.

DUTIES: Include, but are not limited to, inserting marketing materials into programs; learning about the seating chart and theatre protocol through a brief orientation; helping guests find their seats; picking up the theatre space following the performance; and, most importantly, helping make each patron’s stay as pleasant as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS: While prior experience as an usher isn’t necessary, it is important that volunteers: Display a warm, friendly demeanor and enjoy working with people Be able and willing to learn how to efficiently use the theatre’s assisted listening devices Tear tickets efficiently and effectively

WHEN TO SIGN UP: Sign up for ushering throughout the season happens at the end of each season. However there are still plenty of shifts available. If you are interested in ushering for Park Square Theatre, please click on the link below to see a list of available dates. Usher assignments will be scheduled as we receive your requests. Once you have been scheduled you will receive an email, or letter confirmation of your assigned dates.
