EDUCATION MATINEE 2022 — THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK

Performance Cancellations: The upcoming productions of The Diary of Anne Frank and Romeo and Juliet are cancelled.  As schools and educators face uncertainty due to covid-19, they are unable to plan ahead for field trips, including visits to the theatre. Park Square remains committed to serving student audiences through the education program it has developed over nearly 25 years. We are currently pursuing other ways to serve student audiences until they can return.

THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK

March 14 – April 8, 2022

Education matinees are Monday-Friday at 10:00 AM
(The Monday, March 28 performance will be at 10:30 AM)

Proscenium Stage
By Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett

A young woman’s story we must never forget

In this account of eight Jews hiding in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam, Anne Frank emerges from history as an inspiring and intensely gifted young woman. Your students will be moved by this account of someone whose imagination and hope were not stifled by her circumstances. The telling of the hiding and arrest of the Frank family connects the horrific reality of the Holocaust more directly to student’s own lives and strengthens their understanding of history that must be learned from. Young people will see themselves reflected in the family dynamics, coming of age struggles, and young romance of ordinary teenagers growing up amidst the horrors of the holocaust.

Curriculum Connections: The Holocaust, World War II, Jewish Religion and Culture, German Language and Culture, Genocide and reparations in the 20th Century

Run Time: Approximately 2 1/2 hours with one intermission
