Privacy Policy

• We collect information you give us, such as when you buy tickets, donate, sign up for emails, or register for a class. We also collect some information automatically when you use our websites.
• We use analytics and advertising tools from partners like Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). They help us understand our website and reach people who may enjoy our shows.
• We do not sell your personal information for money. We sometimes share or exchange mailing lists with other arts organizations, and you can opt out at any time.
• You can decline advertising and analytics cookies, unsubscribe from emails, opt out of targeted advertising, and ask to see, correct, or delete your information.

Information you give us. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

• Contact details: name, email, phone number, mailing address.
• Ticket and subscription details: performances, seats, order history, exchanges, and preferences.
• Donation and membership details: gift amounts, dates, tribute or honor information, and acknowledgment preferences.
• Payment information: this goes to our payment processor (see Tickets, Donations, and Payments).
• Education and program registrations: participant and parent or guardian contact information, and details needed to run the program (such as age or grade level).
• Accessibility and accommodation requests, such as ASL, audio description, wheelchair seating, or sensory-friendly needs.
• Messages, survey responses, feedback, and job or audition applications.

Information collected automatically. When you visit our websites or open our emails, we and our partners may automatically collect:

• Device and browser information, IP address, and approximate location (city or region) derived from IP address.
• Pages viewed, links clicked, time spent, the site or ad that referred you, and campaign tags in links.
• Actions such as starting a ticket purchase, completing a purchase, signing up for email, or donating.
• Cookie IDs, advertising IDs, and similar identifiers.
• Whether you opened an email and which links you clicked.

Information from other sources. We may receive information from ticketing and payment partners; from advertising and social media platforms (for example, aggregated reports on ad performance); from partner organizations when you buy through them or when we exchange mailing lists with them; and from publicly available sources.

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We and our partners also use similar technologies: pixels (tiny images or code), tags, scripts, and local storage. We use them in four groups:

• Strictly necessary: needed for the site to work, stay secure, process transactions, and remember your cookie choices. These can't be turned off in our tools.
• Preferences: remember settings and support features such as embedded video.
• Analytics: help us understand how visitors use our websites (see Analytics and Measurement).
• Advertising: help us measure our ads and show relevant ads to people who have visited our site or engaged with us (see Advertising and Targeted Advertising).

You can change your choices at any time using the Cookie Preferences link at the bottom of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may cause parts of the site, including checkout, to stop working. Our ticketing site is operated through our ticketing provider and may set its own cookies.

We use Google Analytics and similar tools to learn how people find and use our websites. This includes which shows get the most interest, where visitors come from, and whether they complete a ticket purchase or donation. This may include measuring visits across our main website and our ticketing site as a single journey. We also use campaign tags in links to see which emails, posts, and ads bring people to us.

These tools collect the automatic information described above, and we generally see it in aggregate reports. Google processes this information under its own terms. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by declining analytics cookies in our Cookie Preferences.

We advertise online to reach new audiences and remind past visitors about upcoming shows. We may work with Google (including through the Google Ad Grants program), Meta (Facebook and Instagram), and other advertising partners. We and these partners may use cookies, pixels, and similar tools to:

• measure whether our ads lead to website visits, email signups, ticket purchases, or donations;
• show our ads to people who visited our website, viewed a particular show, or engaged with our social media pages ("retargeting" or "remarketing");
• create audiences that share general characteristics with people who already engage with us ("lookalike" or "similar" audiences); and
• limit how often you see the same ad and improve our campaigns.

For these purposes, our advertising partners may receive information such as the pages you view, the actions you take (for example, a completed purchase and its value), your IP address, browser and device information, and cookie or advertising identifiers. If you are logged in to their services, they may connect this information with your account. They use it under their own privacy policies, which may include improving their ad systems. Showing you ads based on your activity on our site is called "targeted advertising" under several state laws.

We do not send information about accessibility needs, payment card numbers, or the contents of your messages to advertising partners.

Your choices: decline advertising cookies in our Cookie Preferences, or adjust your settings with Google and Meta. Industry opt-out tools are available from the Network Advertising Initiative and the Digital Advertising Alliance. Opting out means you'll see ads that are less tailored, not necessarily fewer ads.

Our emails. When you sign up for our emails, or when you buy tickets or make a donation, we may send you news about shows, offers, events, and ways to support Park Square. We use an email service provider (currently Emma) to send these messages. Our emails may use pixels and tracked links so we can see whether messages were opened and which links were clicked. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also contact us to stop them. We will still send messages about your transactions, such as tickets and receipts.

Our ticketing, subscription, and donor records are managed with PatronManager, a patron management system built on Salesforce. Our online box office is hosted by those providers at a separate web address. Your information is stored primarily on their secure cloud systems rather than on Park Square's own servers, and our staff access it to serve you. Card payments are processed by payment processors such as Stripe. Park Square does not store full payment card numbers. These providers process information for us under their agreements with us and their own security and privacy practices. Our ticketing site may use its own analytics and cookies to measure sales and improve service, and those providers may collect technical data to operate and secure their platforms.

We use information to:

• process tickets, subscriptions, exchanges, donations, and registrations, and provide customer service;
• provide accessibility services and accommodations you request;
• communicate with you about your visit, including schedule changes, safety notices, and receipts;
• send newsletters, show announcements, offers, and fundraising appeals (you can opt out);
• understand our audiences and improve our website, programs, and marketing;
• run and measure advertising, as described above;
• acknowledge gifts, recognize donors (with your permission for public listings), and meet nonprofit reporting duties;
• keep our websites and transactions secure and prevent fraud; and
• comply with law and protect the rights and safety of our patrons, staff, and artists.

We do not use personal information to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

We share information only as described here:

• Service providers that work on our behalf: website hosting (Squarespace), ticketing and patron management (PatronManager/Salesforce), payment processing, email (Emma), analytics, IT support, digital marketing agencies that set up and manage our advertising, mailing and printing, and professional advisers. They may use the information only to provide services to us, except as their own terms allow for security, fraud prevention, and improving their services.
• Advertising and analytics partners, such as Google and Meta, as described in Analytics and Measurement and Advertising and Targeted Advertising.
• Co-presenters and partners, when you buy tickets or register for a program we present with another organization, and only what's needed for that event.
• Other arts and cultural organizations. From time to time, we share or exchange contact information (such as names and mailing or email addresses) with other nonprofit arts organizations so they can tell you about their programs. We never share payment information, accessibility needs, or children's information this way. To be left out, email info@parksquaretheatre.org.
• Legal and safety reasons: to comply with law or legal process, to protect rights, property, or safety, or to prevent fraud.
• Organizational changes: if Park Square merges with, combines with, or transfers its programs to another organization, information may transfer to the successor, subject to this policy.
• With your consent or at your direction.

Sale of information. We do not sell personal information for money. Some state laws define "sale" or "sharing" broadly enough to include exchanging mailing lists with other organizations, or letting advertising partners collect information through cookies and pixels on our site. To the extent those activities qualify, you can opt out using the choices in Your Privacy Choices.

• Cookies: use the Cookie Preferences link at the bottom of every page, or your browser settings.
• List sharing: email info@parksquaretheatre.org to be left out of mailing-list exchanges with other organizations.
• Targeted advertising: decline advertising cookies in Cookie Preferences, or email info@parksquaretheatre.org to opt out.
• Marketing email: click "unsubscribe" in any email or contact us.
• Postal mail and phone: contact us to be removed from mailing or calling lists.
• Platform settings: use the ad settings at Google, Meta, the NAI, and the DAA.

Wherever you live in the United States, you may ask us to:

• confirm whether we process your personal information and give you access to it;
• give you a copy in a portable format;
• correct inaccurate information;
• delete your information;
• stop using your information for targeted advertising, and stop any "sale" of it; and
• tell you the categories of third parties we have shared it with.

Some state laws, including Minnesota's, give these rights to their residents by law. We extend them to all U.S. patrons. To make a request, email info@parksquaretheatre.org, call 651-294-6717, or write to the address in Contact Us. We'll verify your identity by matching information we already have, and we will not ask for more than we need. An authorized agent may make a request for you with written permission. We will respond within 45 days, or tell you if we need more time as the law allows.

We may keep some information when the law requires or allows it, such as donation and transaction records needed for tax, audit, or refund purposes. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. We may still need some information to sell you tickets.

Appeals. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing info@parksquaretheatre.org with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line. We'll respond within 45 days. If you remain unsatisfied, you may contact your state attorney general. In Minnesota, that is the Minnesota Attorney General's Office.

When you ask for an accommodation, you may tell us about a disability or health need. We use this information only to provide the access you requested and to plan our services. We never use it for advertising, and we never share it with advertising partners. By providing it, you consent to that limited use. You can ask us to delete it at any time. We do not intentionally collect other sensitive information, such as precise geolocation, biometric data, or government ID numbers, through our websites.

Our websites are meant for adults and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. We ask parents or guardians to complete registrations for classes, camps, and youth programs. We use a child's information only to run the program, and we never use it for advertising or share it in list exchanges. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information online, contact us and we will delete it. We do not knowingly sell the information of, or target advertising to, anyone we know to be under 16.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate for an organization of our size. These include relying on established providers for ticketing, payments, and email; limiting staff access; and requiring multi-factor authentication for key systems. No system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as required by law.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as the law requires. For example:

• ticket, donation, and financial records: generally seven years after the transaction, for tax, audit, and nonprofit reporting;
• patron and donor contact records: while you have an active relationship with us, then reviewed periodically;
• email lists: until you unsubscribe (we keep a do-not-email record so we honor your choice);
• website analytics data: up to 14 months in Google Analytics; and
• accessibility requests: only as long as needed to provide the service, unless you ask us to keep them on file.

Our advertising and technology partners keep data under their own retention policies.

Our websites link to, and embed content from, other services such as social media, video, maps, and partner organizations. When you interact with those services, including our Facebook and Instagram pages, their own privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for their practices.

Park Square is based in the United States, and our providers process information in the U.S. If you visit from another country, your information will be processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

We may update this policy as our programs, tools, or legal requirements change. We'll post the new version here with a new "Last Updated" date. If we make a material change in how we use or share personal information, we'll give notice on our website and, where appropriate, by email before the change takes effect. We will also give you a chance to opt out where the law requires.
